Lead Application Developer / Asset Owner

February 2008 to present       

  • Learned Oracle Policy Admin System – In-house support
    • Built on-call procedures around the cycle process (monitoring and trouble-shooting)
    • Deep dive into process to create trouble-shooting recovery procedures.
    • Further research into performance enhancement – memory management, CPU monitoring.   Find bottlenecks in the process.
    • Provide recommendation on hardware requirements as system load increased.
    • 3rd tier contact for all overnight batch processes.
    • Developed several Windows batch routines for moving data for cycle.
    • Wrote Java based reporting on business and system errors for the users.
  • ETL Process –Java
    • First in-house developer to learn contractor’s (ObjectEdge) Java implementation of ETL (ETL-Lite).   Uses hibernate and Spring.
    • Wrote complex stored procedures (Oracle SQL) for data retrieval.
    • Finished work on extract to pull scanned images for printing from the document management system.
    • Finished work on batch rate loads from an external system.
    • Trained other developers on this application.
  • ETL Process – Informatica
    • Converted several Java ETL applications to Informatica.
    • Mentored junior developers on ETL design.
    • Completed performance improvements or made recommendations where needed.
    • Wrote a proof of concept web service in Informatica.
    • Wrote bash shell script to update properties file (current date for extracts).  Now used by other teams.
  • Web-based Java Support systems
    • Wrote a web-based rate loading system for the policy admin system
      • Java Server Faces, Hibernate, Spring based.
      • Hand written JavaScript and some jQuery.   Some scripts modified from online libraries.  AJAX methods used to update screens.
      • Two-step approval process written into the application for production loads.
      • Designed from user input.
    • Created a cycle monitoring tool for policy admin               
      • Tracks progress of the batch cycle

      • Prime Faces used as the UI framework
